Painting Subjects In The 17th Century
Hobbies : Art One thing was particularly revolutionary about art in the 17th century. Many artists started painting the world around them - that is everyday life and what they saw on a day to day basis. Before this there had of course been art dominated by religious scenes and commissioned portraits of the great and the good of the day. Now however more and more mundane paintings appeared - quite literally. People were shown playing cards and all sorts of other everyday things. Portraits and religious scenes were finally not the only thing that the self respecting painter could paint!
