Part 3k: Body Language: Summary

Jobs : Successful Job Search Interview Process

You should try and project a positive message with your body language.

Walk tall, shake hands fairly strongly, sit up straight, maintain eye contact throughout, and avoid adopting defensive postures - effectively, do not fold or cross your arms or legs or hunch up.

Maintaining an open body stance and using hand gestures where appropriate (without going overboard) should help you to project the right image.

Try to avoid nervous coughing, as can often happen perhaps without you realising it.

Also, if you tend to cough a lot as a result of getting a dry throat, then do make sure that there is water there available for you to have before the interview starts.

If there is not some water present (though there usually is) then request some before the interview starts.
