Part 4d: How To Start A Cover Letter
Jobs : Successful Job Search CV Covering Letter And Exams Should I address it to Dear Sir/Sirs/Madam, or should I write it to a person? You should make every effort to write to a specific person at the company. If you don't know who to write to - you can't find anyone listed in the information that you have about the company, or the advert, then you should definitely phone up the company and ask - this is very usual and receptionists will be able to give you the name of the person to write to, it doesn't matter that you don't know them. If everything fails and you really can't find out who to write to, then address the letter to the recruitment manager, which sounds better than Dear Sir, which could annoy a female recruitment manager. But you should *always* be able to find a relevant name.
