Part 4i: What To Include In The Covering Letter

Jobs : Successful Job Search CV Covering Letter And Exams

What do I include in the covering letter?

This simple question is that asked most commonly by those unfamiliar to the job search process. Here are some tips on what to include in your covering letter for maximum impact and relevancy:

As a general rule, you should include a paragraph or two saying why you want that job - and why with that company.

You may be changing direction in your career, or this may be your first job.

Therefore you need to say why it appeals to you, and include briefly what skills you think you have to ensure that you are as successful as possible in this career path.

If you have specific reasons for applying to that company - you were impressed with what you saw at a careers fair, or when speaking to an employee on some occasion, then add this - any contact that you have had with the company bodes well and shows that you are enthusiastic and have put some research in.

Make sure they get the impression that you fit the job requirements.
