Many people are their own worst critics, and are too hard on themselves. Negativity can lead to creating problems for yourself.
If you are determined to achieve a goal, whether it is to lose some weight, learn to play tennis, overcome a fear of something, then the best way to achieve a goal is to plan.
That is, keep a log.
Here's an example: imagine you are learning to play football, and have weekly lessons and matches.
After each match, note down things that went really well and you are satisfied with.
Then, write down aspects that you would like to improve on.
Then the key step: jot down some ideas on what actions you can take to develop those aspects.
Note how positive this is - instead of creating a big drama and negative feeling about things that did not go so well, you are drawing up a plan of how to improve and get even better.
The difference may be subtle, but the difference is no less profound for it.
