A common technique used by those looking to achieve a goal is to split the goal into lots of little mini goals between their current reality and their desired future.
Why? Well, a target looks a long, long way off initially and can be very daunting to reach.
Splitting into lots of little goals makes it seem an easier road to bridge, and you can feel good at each point along the way.
Therefore you should set yourself short, medium and long term goals to achieve. The long term goal is your target weight AND (many people leave out the AND) to maintain that weight rather than just revert to old bad habits when you reach it!
By having multiple goals you help make the target more achievable and can focus on it more clearly.
