How To Protect Taps In Winter
Miscellaneous To protect your outside taps in winter when you won't be using them it is a great idea to cut off the supply to them. Generally there will be a separate control valve that you can turn, perhaps located in the kitchen, that will turn off flow to that tap. Then you might also want to ensure that it is drained of course so run it so that all the water comes out to prevent freezing, then finally you might want to wrap a plastic bag around the end of the tap to insulate it from the ensuing cold that comes in the harsh winter months.
