How To Protect Your Home

Miscellaneous

If you never check the roof for loose tiles or slates or simply weak ones, then when the wind picks up, damp will enter your house when it rains. This can be very disastrous. Check it regularly and ensure moss isn’t blocking any gutters as this can retain moisture too which may also damage the roof. Check chimney pots, the satellite dish and TV aerial are all secure.

Do not ignore the gutters as clearing and cleaning them will help prevent future problems which will cost more in the long run, and of course be stressful.

Don’t ignore damp areas in your home as this can lead to mould and illness which may be life threatening. Keep your home well ventilated and use a de humidifier if needed. Condesation can also ruin paintwork, and plaster. Avoid drying clothes inside too. Maybe buy a tumble dryer.

Make sure you service your boiler regularly so it is running properly and doesn’t blow up during the winter months. Get it done in summer as its cheaper than winter.
