How To Protect Your Photos Whilst Selling Them

Hobbies : Photography

If you are a serious photographer or just a part timer who has managed to get a great shot, then there may be a time where you want to sell your photos and get some money from photography.

If you want to do this, then you need to find of course an agency or publication interested. The best thing to do is to phone them up and they will probably ask to see the pictures or a sample before working out the price.

Here it is essential that you protect your photos so that they can't just take them and claim they were from somewhere else and not give you the money.

To do this scan the pictures in and add a big watermark or 'sample' over the top so they can still see the picture and its quality but don't have the picture in a state where they can print it without buying the rights off you first.

Also think about how they will use the picture - are you selling it to them exclusively - most papers and magazines tend to require this - and is it for one off use or will you let them keep it and even resell it? All these things are worth thinking about.
