How To Reduce The Risk Of Staff Injury

Business : Running Your Business

If you run an office, then one nightmare scenario is staff being injured at work. Beside the unpleasantness for them and the problems of them being off sick, you may be sued if you are shown to be negligent.

Staff health is paramount. Therefore you need to ensure:

all staff have the necessary equipment at the desk: an adjustable chair that is comfortable,a mousemat and responsive keyboard, a monitor at a suitable distance and height.

When you get new staff run through their desk set up and ensure they are comfortable.

Ensure that all wires and leads are not strung across the office but neatly out of the way - you do not want someone to trip over. Also ensure that the printer and photocopier are at a suitable distance from someone.

If you have noisy machines ensure that they are out of earshot of your staff. Also ensure your office is at a suitable temperature, and if there is strong sunlight try and fit some light shades to block the light out as necessary.

With some sensible precautions in the office, you can help minimise risk of injury.
