How To Remember The Different States Of Matter

Education : Chemistry

There are three states of matter, SOLID, LIQUID and GAS. These are characterised as follows:

SOLID

Solids have a definite shape and volume and are hard to compress

LIQUIDS

Have a definite volume but no definite shape, but are easier to compress than solids

GASES

Have no definite volume or shape, and are easy to compress

When a substance skips out one phase this is called SUBLIMATION, e.g. carbon dixoide sublimes.
