How To Remove More Household Stains

Chilli, curry and mustard stains can be cleaned by pre treating with stain remover, then using detergent to wash in a machine.

Blood stained clothes can be rinsed immediately with cold water if fresh. Treat with stain remover if older, soak for 2 hrs, then put in washing machine with detergents.

Grass stains can be quite stubborn. Pre treat with stain remover then wash as normal.

For candle wax, peel off any excess from the surface. Sandwich the clothing with blotting paper or kitchen roll, then using a warm iron press down on to the back of the fabric. Wash as normal.

Paint stains from water based latex, acrylic, emulsion and school paints can be rinsed whilst still wet. Oil based and varnish will need to be sponged down with white spirit or paint brush cleaner. Then wash as normal.

Hot washes of about 60 degrees celcius usually work well to remove stubborn stains, but be aware clothes may shrink or become damaged so depends what item of clothing and how bad the mark is.
