How To Reply To A Job Ad

Jobs : Job Search

When you reply to a job ad and send in your covering letter and CV, you need to tailor your covering letter for each job application.

It is obvious if you are using a generic covering letter. You might think otherwise, but if you actually look at examples of covering letters that are tailored and those that are not, then you will realise that this is just not the case!

One possibility is to dedicate half a page of the covering letter to listing the key skills they mention are required for the job, then on the other side of that half the page list all the skills and abilities you have that match perfectly against those.

This shows that you have really read and digested the advert and offers real proof of what you can offer for each of the key skills. This is sure to impress as long as the skills you have to offer in each area really do match up with the requirements!
