Reserve Prices - Pros And Cons

Money : EBay

The big pro of setting a reserve is the piece of mind that you gain by knowing that the item will not go for a song - only at the price you think is due and fair.

The cons are that you are less likely to get a sale, as often time as the owner you may over value the item.

Some purchasers think that reserves complicate things a bit and therefore are less likely to bid on items with a reserve.

Also remember that eBay charges an additional fee for setting a reserve price (to act as a deterrent to setting a reserve - if too many people did this things would be bad for eBay)

Therefore before setting a reserve think of the costs and the effect, and only if the benefits outweigh this consider this course of action.
