The first is to buy some from the shops that are specifically already ripped, and in this case all you need to do is choose the ones that you want and think will suit you best. The other method of course is to do it yourself! If you rip jeans yourself, then remember not to make the cuts too big. Too many people go overboard and then end up ruining their jeans. Start with a small hole, and then to get the authentic look rip out from the hole - note that shop bought ones are never pure circular holes. Therefore fray the edges around the hole you make with some scissors to leave the threads hanging and get that authentic look. Remember that you can also 'slash' across jeans - giving tears in the fabric rather than full on holes. Top tip: practice on a very old or cheap pair of jeans that you don't care about before you go about amending your prized jeans!
