It is a mature discussion forum such that people can say what is on their mind, if they are having any problems they can discuss them and more besides. The key is to run an ordered meeting and you might find it useful to have an agenda. Have rules on talking and who can speak when and make sure that no one interrupts. Ensure everyone has time to speak and raise any issues that they want to talk about. It may sound a little too formal or strange but actually it works really well and can stop lots of fights down the line, which is really one of the best reasons there is for holding a family meeting!
