Salt - What Is A Healthy Level

Health And Fitness : Weight Loss

Salt labels are there to try and help you out, but what exactly do they mean?

Well, here are some phrases you might see and what they really mean.

No salt added or salt free is the simplest of all labels - and means that it is genuinely unsalted. This applies to fresh items most commonly.

Without added salt - this means that the product would normally have salt added during the make up of the product, but this one doesn't

Low sodium - probably contains 25% less than the standard product

Sodium free - likely to contain less than 5mg of sodium per serving

If you get confused with the interchange of salt and sodium, remember that the chemical name for common salt is sodium chloride
