Why is this? Well, you can perform all the SEO in the world, but if your site is boring, samey and poorly written, then the user will stay for a few seconds then leave, never to come back. The truly successful site uses SEO as a METHOD to get traffic to the site, but it is not the purpose of the site. Once on the site, the content should be gripping enough to keep the user coming back and ideally telling their friends about the site and spreading the word organically, too.
