How To Soften Hard Edges From A Wine

Food And Drink : Drinks

If you want to get rid of the hard edges from a wine then you need to soften it.

In order to do this you need to decant it. This works well with rich white wines, for instance.

The hard edges are things like crisp acidity in the wine, which become a more mellow sort of flavour after decanting.

So try decanting with wines, experiment and have fun, see the effect on the wines, and if it works then stick to it. It can certainly make some harsher wines much more palatable!
