Sole Trader Or Limited Company?

Jobs : Starting A Home Business

It can be hard to work out the best form of employment for you - should you operate as a sole trader or as a limited company?

Ultimately this is something that is personal to you but you do need to give it some more thought up front.

Clearly if a limited company there are more responsibilities and you need to go through the formation process.

The key question may be - would others feel more comfortable working with you as a company than as an individual - if the answer is yes, then it might be best to go for a limited company.

Example: companies tend to prefer to do business with other companies. If your market is corporate, therefore, it might add that extra gravitas to your operation to get you work if you set up as a limited company.
