How To Split An MPEG, AVI
Computing : Computer Sound Music And Video If you have a MPEG or AVI file that you want to split up - for instance just to upload a small taster sample to a website, then things couldn't be easier - with XP you can do so for free. Simply load up Windows Movie Maker, and load up your MPEG or AVI. Let's say you want to just have the first minute of a five minute piece of film... easy! Once loaded, fast forward to the place where you want to cut, and click the icon (usually in the bottom right) 'split in two at this point'. And there you go - you have two sections - simply discard the bit you don't want to keep and save the other! Tip: add a fade out to both sound and video tracks over the last few seconds of the clip to make it seem more professional and make the stop less abrupt.
