The important thing about starting to go jogging is to ease yourself in gently.

Sure you might see people on the London marathon effortlessly covering the miles of a marathon at a good pace - but if that's your only contact with people jogging, then take it as a hint that reality is not like that - there you are looking at elite athletes who spend their entire time training.

Yet somehow as obvious as the above statement is the number one reason people give for giving up jogging is that they were disappointed with their performance and disheartened by how little distance they could cover without needing a break - but if ever there was a gradual improvement form of exercise, jogging is it.

So start off slowly. The first time you go jogging, literally just do it for literally a few minutes. And don't feel that you have to jog the whole time. If you gradually build up to about 10 - 15 minutes, combine with walking briskly too.

You never know, you might take to it like a duck to water, given a chance: many people start slow but notice strong improvements very quickly from jogging.
