Step Parenting Advice: Your Partner

Relationships : Family

Step parenting can be difficult, and initial friction can be hard to overcome. If a relationship with the child or children may be an issue, then you want to make sure the one with your partner is strong and solid.

Therefore you should take time to actively discuss with your partner your approach to their kids or vice versa.

Agree on a joint approach with regard to how to tackle and overcome any difficulties that there might be.

This is very important and many couples don't actively discuss this issue and just hope that things will magically work - which is a mistake.

Take the time now to plan coolly and rationally with your partner your strategy and attitudes to the children and it will help along the line, both for you and for them.
