| Miscellaneous We have all had the problem with smelly bins, and particularly in the UK with more and more councils cutting costs by reducing the number of collections leading to stinky rubbish in the summer. Although this is offered under an environmental umbrella the bottom line is it's a cost saving measure with of course none of that passed on in a reduction in council tax. So here is a tip on how to stop bins smelling horrible from reader Julie: to stop your bins smelling horrible between collections throw two moth balls in each fortnight ...also stops them attracting flies! And that's all there is to it - it sounds simply but apparently it is helpful, and of course the other good thing is it stops flies being attracted to the bins too which can lead to disgusting hygiene issues!
