How To Stop Snacking

Health And Fitness : Weight Loss

Snacking is one of the cardinal sins when it comes to trying to lose weight.

Whilst it is something that we all do, it is the chief cause of people struggling to lose the weight that they wish to lose.

That's because those snacks add up, and a couple of hundred extra calories a day from snacks is enough to make the difference between maintaining your current weight and gradually adding on a little bit here and there - the couple of extra ounces a week add up quickly before you know it.

And the key of all is to stop snacking before bedtime, because a scientific study apparently showed with mice that they burnt more fat and sugar when they did not eat close to nighttime... not that we're the same as mice, but many people say that you should not snack within a few hours of bedtime. So there might be some truth in it, who knows.

Anyhow, when it comes to stopping snacking, the key is to realise that snacking is actually a habit, and like any habit it is tough to break.

So the way to stop snacking is through discipline, and through ensuring that you eat sensibly at meal times and end with something that will make you feel full such as an apple, so that you do not want to snack between mealtimes. If you can keep it going for a couple of weeks, then you won't feel the urge to snack inbetween meals.
