How To Study To Become A Make Up Artist

Beauty : Cosmetics

To become a professional make up artist, you will need a high school diploma, experience in cosmetology or theatre, a good eye for detail and good artistic skills.

Experience is just as important as formal qualifications so bare this in mind. Get as much experience as possible within the industry whether it is paid or unpaid. Offer your services to unsigned bands doing gigs or photo shoots, or lend a hand at your local photographic studio.

Learn as much about make up as possible. Read up online and use any books for any extra tips. Practise on your friends and make a portfolio with all the work you have done. You could even set up a website or blog to promote your work. Perhaps tie in a fashion show and match outfits to your make up designs for an overall wow effect. Remember the more you practise the better you will get, so don’t give up. It will always be evolving and improving. Keep up with all the latest fashion trends and celebrity styles too.
