The most important one to submit to is called DMOZ - at www.dmoz.org Being listed in this site is valued particularly, and is also quite prestigious. The reason for this is that it is edited entirely by humans, and therefore no rubbish sites should get in - in theory at least. This also means that you stand a fair chance of having your site rejected if it does not meet the category or guidelines for sites; and also that you might have to wait months to become listed in the DMOZ listings.
