Success In Business: Rank On Urgency And Importance

One of the best ways to work out which task on a long list should be done first - or to define the order - is with the following method:

On a piece of paper, draw a line down the middle horizontally and vertically - to split it into four sections.

Then in each section, label up as:
urgent, but not important
urgent and important
not urgent but important
not urgent and not important

Then go through and do the urgent and important tasks first, and work down the list.

It's a simple method but the focus of these questions can help you work out what to do when.
