Many people however give up too soon - they contact one person and then when it falls through they get disillusioned and pack it in. However the whole benefit of online dating is that there are thousands of people there that you can strike up conversations with. At least initially start up conversations with anyone you have an initial interest in. Develop ten leads, as it were, and some will peter out quickly whilst others may develop in new and unexpected ways. As times goes by then you can whittle down to your few favourites and then go on dates. In other words give yourself choice - it would be almost impossible for the first person you talk to to be the one, as it were, but if you talk to ten, twenty or more then you give yourself a better chance of finding the right person for you.
