Table Tennis Tips: The Serve

Sport : Other Sports And Tips

If you watch standard club level table tennis play, you will see that most players simply serve the ball from about racket height.

However, move to the competitive arena and the TV table tennis and you see people throw the ball high up into the air before serving when it comes down.

The reason that some players do this is that it allows the ball to accelerate and be hit when moving much faster - due to gravity - than a low toss.

The bottom line is that this should therefore enable them to add more spin, or speed, to the serve.

Therefore whilst it looks strange and might be hard to get used to, it is worthwhile learning to serve in this way as cheap points can result!
