How To Teach Good Manners To Children

Self Development : Parenting

Teaching good manners to children is all about consistency and using them yourself.

Whenever you request something yourself, be sure to use the word please, and then of course thank you once you get what you want.

For example at the dinner table:
'pass the salt, please'
' thank you' once it is passed

Ensure that your children also adopt this behaviour; if they ask for something make it habit that they include the right word at the end else don't fulfil the action.

Example:
'pass the salt'
'pass the salt, what?'
'pass the salt'
'what's the magic word?'
'please'
--- now pass the salt ---
'thank you'

By making them practice and use polite language at all times you make good manners engrained behaviour in your children.
