This could be a friend who doesn't understand the subject, or perhaps a parent who is willing to listen and take an interest. If you can explain something to them in a way that makes sense then you really do understand the subject. And going through the process of trying to explain it will really help it to stick in your mind, particularly with something a little obscure or some very precise information. You can even try to 'teach' or explain something through to yourself!
