The Brain In A Vat
| Philosophy : Thought Experiments Imagine that you are nothing more than a brain in a vat, being fed sensory inputs left right and centre by a team of mad, or very clever, scientists. Would there be any way you could know that you are a brain in a vat and not 'really' having the experiences you think you are - you know, sitting in front of a computer, reading this, wondering how anyone believes in horoscopes etc., And, if there is no way that you could know whether you are a brain in a vat or not, would it matter to your life? These are the sort of questions that are teased out in the hit film The Matrix.
