That's because many office workers will log onto eBay in the period from 12 - 2 to check out their bids, and to see if they can pick up a bargain. Many office workers these days eat their lunch at their desk and therefore will read a combination of the BBC News, personal interest sites, and perhaps eBay. Therefore it is a great time to end an auction without attracting quite so many ending auctions as on a Sunday evening, hence there is less competition pro rata to distract those office bidders!
