The First Paragraph Of A Press Release Is Most Important

Business : PR

The first paragraph is probably the most important of all the content of the press release. It is on scanning this first paragraph that most people who read it will decide if it has any potential and is worth reading further or not.

Therefore you must follow the convention of using the first paragraph to sum up the whole story - remember this is the only bit that will probably be read by some, so make it clear, to the point and obvious why your story may be news worthy!

Get straight down to business with the first line - no scene setting - if you launched a new childrens creche in Example town today then say just that, then get down to the key benefit in the first line.

"KidsFun creche launched today - working parents in Example town now have a safe place for their kids for the first time ever".

Don't start like many do with a paragraph giving more background about the general problems and information and thought processes that led to the topic of your press release - get straight down to the nitty gritty!
