The High Renaissance
| Hobbies : Art The High Renaissance really refers to 16th century art, broadly, and was started in Italian city states. The whole of Western culture has been affected in a permanent and profound manner by the art and the general attitudes that they showed during this period. The most important centre at the time was undoubtedly Florence - the Medici ruling family had a unique attitude to artistic patronage. Because of this, the artist had a higher social standing and elevation than anywhere else, and this encouraged them to flourish, to create and experiment in a manner that previously they had not been able to do so.
