The Key Ideas In Evolutionary Theory

Education : Biology

The key ideas are that natural selection ensures that the fittest members of a species in a certain time and place and environment are those which survive.

A species mutates or changes through random changes in their genetic makeup. Advantageous changes are more likely to mean survival, and perhaps eventually lead to a new species.

Key idea: Any characteristic acquired by chance mutation that gives an individual an advantage in the game of life will be naturally selected for.
