Things To Ask A Babysitter Before You Book Them

Miscellaneous

Make sure they know how to do basic first aid and CPR in case of an emergency situation. You will want to know your children will be safe. If your child chokes for example, then the baby sitter would be able to help.

Ask them if they have previous babysitting experience, as you will feel more reassured that they know what they are doing. Obviously everyone has to start somewhere, but its good to know anyway. Ask for contact info from previous employers and follow these up after your meeting.

Find out why they want to work with children. They should be able to relate to them well and feel comfortable and happy. It’s a good idea if they know some fun games and activities to keep the kids occupied too.

Ask if they have dealt with any emergencies or children being ill, although it doesn’t matter if they haven’t but again its useful info to know, especially for peace of mind. Ask if they’ve had experience working with children the same age as your own.
