Tips On Sleeping - 12

Health And Fitness : Top Health Tips

This one is to do with the food and drink that you consume before bed.

We all know that alcohol and caffeine within a few hours of bed are not a good idea, but what about other food?

Perceived wisdom is that no large meal should be had before bed - as it can cause indigestion. Also too much water can cause the need for frequent toilet breaks that can disrupt you getting into the sleeping mood.

Therefore always have a meal of any significant size at least three hours before bedtime to ensure it is well enough digested as not to interfere with sleep.

As for snacks, well some things are said to help. Classically, warm milky drinks or something simple like a piece of toast may help people get off to sleep, which is why so many try it.

As a rule don't have anything containing caffeine or anything heavier than about ten bites before bed!
