This refers to the ideas of larks and owls - some people are naturally evening people, others naturally morning. Larks have no problem going to bed fairly early and sleeping and getting up early, whilst for owls the opposite is true - naturally being more awake at night and therefore finding it hard to go to sleep early. Therefore if you are not able to sleep when going to bed, it might be the wrong time for you - shift your hours of sleep until you find something that you are comfortable with, even if this means asking if you can work 10 - 6 instead of 9 - 5 or so.
