Translator
| Jobs : Job Profiles The job involves the clear interpretation of ideas from one language to another. This requires an excellent command of both languages, and an eye for detail. The ability to quickly understand the key message is essential, as the translator has a crucial duty in not applying their own bias, spin or interpretation on the material they are interpreting. There is great call for translators, as it is one of the few areas where computers have not been able to make great inroads at present - anyone who has used a translation tool will know they tend to be very poor indeed as they cannot grasp the semantics of context of language. You will need to be able to work quickly, and concentrate for extended periods. You will need to be accurate too and able to appreciate metaphor and phraseology in both the object and subject language. Many translators are degree educated in one or more languages. They tend to have lived for a period of time in the country they are translating from. International business or companies that operate in several countries are both potential sources of employment.
