| Computing : Software An easter egg is the name given in software to hidden files or games within games that are unexpected. For instance it could be that some bizarre combination of key strokes will give you access to a completely new game, a new picture, or something else that is unexpected and different to the rest of the program. Because this is an unexpected gift it is known as an easter egg as it were. There are many of them known even for things like windows operating systems. There are forums that contain the combinations that you need to use to find easter eggs, and they can be quite amusing to view and know they are there - the programmers personality coming out as it were!
