How To Understand Long Jump Technique
Sport : Athletics If you are training for long jump then you will know that there are two different techniques. Here is a brief explanation as to what they are, and what they aim to achieve through correct execution of each technique. The first is the so called hitchkick technique - that is, where the jumper tries to 'run' in the air by continuing to kick their legs as though running - and pump arms too. The second is the hang, where the jumper extends arms and arches their back. So what is best? Well it really depends on which you find most natural and comfortable for you, as both can help if done right. The ultimate aim of them is to try to slow down the forward rotation which occurs naturally to your body in the air, and which would reduce the distance of your jump.
