Understanding Personal Space
Self Development : Interpreting Body Language Psychologists or similar have decreed that there are four zones of so-called 'personal space' which is the space, surprisingly enough, around us. These four arbitrary zones are agreed to be as follows: - intimate - personal - social and - public Clearly when they designed these personal spaces they hadn't been on the London Underground, but the core idea is that the higher up the list, the closer other people can come to you without you feeling uncomfortable. And that's why personal space is important. You can use this personal space factor to see how comfortable others are around you - if they keep your distance versus coming closer then they are unlikely to be feeling at all comfortable around you. Similarly you should be conscious of not invading the personal space of others, whilst at the same time not being too stand-offish.
