Understanding The Effects Of A Corked Wine

Food And Drink : Drinks

Many people think it is hard to detect a corked wine but not so as the effects are quite profound on the flavour and taste of the wine.

First it makes it take stale and sour.

Or it may make it taste mouldy and a little musty.

The reasons are: the first allows air to come in through the cork, and this has that reaction to it.

The second is: the cork reacts slightly with the wine; there is a chemical reaction and this nasty taste occurs.

Therefore if your wine is corked you will soon know from the horrible taste!
