How To Use A Face Mask

Beauty : Skincare

Face masks are good because there are a whole range with different functions depending on your skin type. Mud masks work best on oily skin as they absorb oil, while a hydrating mask will assist dry skin. Remember though, that face masks tend top open your pores and so can cause spots the next day, so it is best not to use one the night before a big event - use it a few days in advance.

Always test the mask on a patch of skin such as the crook of your elbow and if there is no adverse reaction then it should be safe to use on your face. This is particularly important if you have sensitive skin, so if you feel any tingling or get itchy spots on the patch test, don't use it at all.

Apply a thin coating of the mask on your face, but take care not to get it in your eyes, or to apply it near the delicate under eye area or your lips. Leave it on as long as the package directs, and let it dry - try not to crack it by talking and laughing. If you have used a mud mask then this should be gently rubbed off with a warm face cloth whereas a moisturising mask can be rubbed off gently with a tissue. Try not to scrub the skin too hard. Pat your face dry with another towel.

If you have used a peel off mask, then start at your forehead and work your way down, removing it from the rest of your face.
