How To Use An Advent Calendar

Religion And Culture : Presents

The first thing you need is an advent calendar - you can buy these in the shops around Christmas. It can be fun to get ones with chocolate inside.

However, for the true meaning of Christmas you can get ones with religious pictures of Joseph, Mary, the shepherds and the baby Jesus from Churches or larger stores.

Using the calendar is simple.

For each day in December, there will be a corresponding door on the calendar, from 1 to 24. Each day, open the corresponding door. There may be chocolate, a message, or a picture inside the calendar.

Just make sure you do not open a door before the date, though this is tempting - particularly for younger children!
