How To Use The Meta Description
| Computing : Search Engine Optimisation Notoriously, the meta tags have been abused in the past. At one stage they had a heavy bearing on ranking of a web site for certain terms. Therefore some people manipulated their ranking by stuffing their meta tags with keywords that were little to do with the site to get traffic. Because of this it now has less weighting. However the meta description page is still very important indeed. Why is this? Because if present google will display the contents of this tag to your site visitors (at the time of writing). Therefore it will act as a good hook or sell to potential visitors to your site. Therefore make sure it is descriptive and specific to the page that you are writing.
