What Causes The Hangover

Health And Fitness : Hangover Cures

What causes the hangover and that painful headache that you get?

Well, the fact is that the alcohol is of course what causes the hangover, but the symptoms are caused by one of the side-effects of that: loss of water or as it is more commonly known dehydration.

When processing and removing all that alcohol from the system which is a diuretic, a large amount of water is lost from the system.

And therefore this means that there is less water in your body then there should be and this can cause headaches as a result.

Therefore what you should always do when drinking is have lots of water.

Many recommend that when out drinking you match glasses of alcohol for the same quantity of water. This also has the good effect of meaning that you drink a little more slowly and perhaps also less as you are full of water as well - though you might also need to be pretty close to a toilet too of course when consuming all that alcohol!
