What Is A PPC And Who Is My Prospective Parliamentary Candidates

Politics

As the title of this article suggests, the term PPC is election or political speak for a Prospective Parliamentary Candidate.

Each party that fields a candidate for election in a seat has a PPC for that seat.

For instance if Labour, the Conservatives and the Lib Dems all field a candidates for a seat and no other party does, then that means there are three candidates for standing for election, and each of those is the PPC for their party.

One of the PPCs may be an existing MP who is moving seat, a former MP, or the current MP who is standing for re-election.

Once parliament is dissolved technically there are no longer MPs however everyone understands what is meant by 'the current MP', or Member of Parliament, in that situation.
